This is a miniature katana forged by Yokoyama Sukenaga, a prominent smith of the Shinshinto period. It was made as a boy's sword, a miniature genuine sword commissioned from a sword smith for the boy in the family. The forging is a skillfully knitted mokume with areas of itame, and the hamon is the hallmark style of bright nioideki choji midare.
