Tokubetsu Juyo Token ("Especially Important Sword") is the NBTHK's highest rank, awarded only to blades already designated Juyo and judged on par with a nationally designated Important Cultural Property (Jūyō Bunkazai). Only 1,365 items — across swords, fittings, and mountings — have ever received this honor since the program began in 1971. Acquiring a Tokubetsu Juyo blade is a defining moment for any serious collector.
