Description

This antique Japanese katana is signed by Washū Tegai-jū Kanekuni, a distinguished swordsmith from the early Edo period (Keichō era). He was the fifth-generation Kanekuni and elder brother of Nanki Shigekuni, known for their work as official swordsmiths for Tokugawa Ieyasu in Sunpu. The blade exhibits a beautiful jigane and suguha hamon, characteristic of the Yamato style, and comes with an NBTHK Juyo Token certificate.
