This wakizashi is signed by Sukekane, a swordsmith of the Osafune school in Bizen province during the late Edo period, known for his flamboyant choji-midare hamon. The inscription indicates it was made for Hashizume Yukinori at Tenmangu Shrine in Kaei 2 (1849). The blade comes with a koshirae.
