説明

Hideoki was born in 1788 and was a student of Otsuki Mitsuoki. His family name was Kawarabayashi, and he used the name Genshichi. He had a unique background, and it is said he made fans at a business called Tangoya, and also worked as a poet. While studying undering Mitsuoki, he mastered the Otsuki techniques in illustration and carving. He used the artistic names Bunryusha and Hosai before passing away in 1851. This piece incorporates hallmark Otsuki School traits including a skillful use of space, and displays a remarkably carved depiction of a parent and child monkey.
