The naginata is a Japanese polearm featuring a curved blade mounted on a long shaft. Originally a battlefield weapon, many historical naginata blades were later shortened and remounted as swords (naginata-naoshi). These converted blades retain their distinctive wide curvature and are highly prized by collectors.
