Description

This tanto, signed and dated to August 1582 by Harumitsu from Bizen province, is a treasure from the late Muromachi period. It features a tight nioguchi, spectacular islands of tobiyaki, and two fine horimono engravings: a curled tsume with goma hashi, and a magnificent dragon coiled around a sword. The blade comes with a refined Meiji period aikuchi-koshirae adorned with golden oak leaves and a silver chrysanthemum loop, and its authenticity is confirmed by NBTHK Hozon papers.
