This is an impressive tanto by Kanetane, an Echizen smith of the early Edo period, featuring a slightly broad silhouette and a beautifully executed gunome-midare hamon. The blade is in fine condition, forged in a well-packed itame-hada grain with active hamon. It comes with an elegantly assembled koshirae, including a shakudō tsuba and a kozuka signed by Gotō Mitsunori.
