This is a wakizashi by Kanekiyo from the early Muromachi period (around Oei era) in Yamato province. The smith Kanekiyo is a highly skilled craftsman from the Tegai school, whose lineage extends from the late Kamakura period to the late Sengoku period. Dr. Sato Kanzan has not only inscribed a red mei on the tang but also noted it as a healthy and typical work in the sayagaki.
