The 10th generation Aizu Kanesada’s real name was Furukawa Narizo. He was the father of the famous 11th generation Aizu Izumi no Kami Kanesada and served as a hanko (domain smith) for the Aizu clan. He instructed the 11th generation Aizu Izumi no Kami Kanesada, and after the 11th generation received the title of Izumi no Kami Kanesada in Bunkyu 3, he changed his name to Kaneuji. The 11th generation Aizu Izumi no Kami Kanesada is currently extremely famous as the aito of Hijikata Toshizo, and his popularity in Touken Ranbu is at its peak. The sugata of this tanto manifests as a sharp moroha tanto, which is very difficult to produce. While the jigane is not clearly visible, it is forged in ko-itame hada. The hamon is in nioi-deki with ko-nie, firing a gunome-ba that continues deep down to the mune in a sugu-cho style. Works by this 10th generation Aizu Kanesada were likely bestowed by the Aizu Daimyo Matsudaira Katamori upon the Shinsengumi of that time. It truly possesses the value of an Aizu sword loved by the Shinsengumi Vice-Commander Hijikata Toshizo. The bakumatsu-era tanto koshirae further adds elegance to this moroha tanto. This moroha tanto has been carefully preserved by an old family for generations, but as they have grown old, we have been entrusted to pass it on at a low price to someone who will cherish it as an Aizu Kanesada. Because this moroha tanto, which features gyaku-takanoha-chigai yasurime, shows a lack of maintenance due to age and one of the tsubogasa menuki is missing, we are offering it at a super-bargain price that is essentially just the cost of the koshirae.
