Sengoku Seki was an industry: smiths organized under their tutelary Kasuga shrine, arming the war bands of central Japan. Magoroku Kanemoto’s sanbonsugi and the finest Kanesada work prove quality survived inside mass production.
This is an Edo-period katana signed Izumi no Kami Kanesada. The blade shows fine workmanship consistent with the Mino tradition and has a 26-7/8 inch cutting edge with a gentle curvature and healthy, well-balanced shape. It is mounted in WWII military mounts, which are well preserved and complement the sword nicely.
