This is a tachi from the Nanbokucho period, attributed to the Enju school of Higo province. Originally a long tachi of about 2 shaku 6 sun, it has been greatly shortened to 2 shaku 2 sun 4 bu. The blade exhibits prominent characteristics of the Yamashiro tradition, with a discernible Kyoto-style reverse foot.
