This is a katana by the 11th generation Izuminokami Kanesada, a famous swordsmith known for his association with Hijikata Toshizo. Made in Keio 1 (1865) after the Kinmon Incident, it is believed to be a reward from the shogunate for military achievements. The blade features a masame hada and a wild temper line, similar to Hijikata's sword.
