Description

This katana is signed by Kenryushi Sadaharu, a swordsmith from Osaka active during the late Edo period (Bakumatsu) and a student of Gassan Sadakatsu. It features a magnificent form characteristic of the Bakumatsu era, with a shallow sori, wide mihaba, and extended kissaki. The jigane is tightly forged ko-itame with ji-kei, and the hamon is sugu-cho with ko-gunome and ko-ashi, showing kinsuji along the ha-buchi. The nakago is carefully finished with a large suji-kai yasurime and a kurijiri.
