NihontoWatch月山貞吉を師とする剣竜子貞晴は後に帝室技芸員に認定される兄弟弟子の月山貞一等と共に 文字通り最後の武士達の注文に応えて刀を鍛えた刀工。寸を控えて重ねを厚く仕立て、ふくら枯れた姿はすすどしく、棟は真に鍛えて、帽子は掃き掛けてさばき頭とするなど古作を強く意識した作域を示している。

Meiji: survival after the edict
The Haitōrei edict of 1876 ended sword wearing and nearly ended the craft itself. Military demand and imperial patronage kept a remnant alive, and in 1906 Gassan Sadakazu and Miyamoto Kanenori were named Artists to the Imperial Household.
