NihontoWatch天保三年に伯耆国に生まれた宮本包則は、州池田家に仕え、文久三年に京堀川に移住し、有栖川宮熾仁親王の推挙で公明天皇の御剣を鍛えて能登守を領している。 式年遷宮に際して鍛造した宝剣の余鉄を以て鍛造された作品である旨茎に刻されており、極めて貴重な作品です。

Meiji: survival after the edict
The Haitōrei edict of 1876 ended sword wearing and nearly ended the craft itself. Military demand and imperial patronage kept a remnant alive, and in 1906 Gassan Sadakazu and Miyamoto Kanenori were named Artists to the Imperial Household.
