Explanation The term “Naoe ” is a collective designation for those disciples of Kaneshi who, having moved from in Province to the Naoi (Naoe) area of the province, came to be referred to in this way. Extant works bearing signatures are rare, whether or , and the majority are pieces that have been greatly shortened () and are transmitted with appraisals ().
This sword, too, is and , and has been as Naoe . Judging from the workmanship of the and , this appraisal is entirely convincing, and the characteristic features of the group are well expressed.
