Explanation In the period, swords of production were made in great numbers, second only to those of . In addition to the earlier and Naoe groups, many smiths were also active in places such as Seki, Hachiya, Akasaka, and Shimizu; and toward the end of the period Seki became the principal center.
This work is by Kanekuni of the Naoe group. Among the makers bearing the name, it is appraised as not descending later than the Ōei era, and the workmanship is good.
