An especially large Higo iron tsuba featuring the characteristic Omatsune motif , executed in bold ji-sukashi . The design depicts stylized pine trees (matsu) arranged across the openwork field, with finely articulated foliage and branches set within a strongly defined circular rim. The contrasting areas of solid iron and negative space create a powerful yet balanced composition, characteristic of the restrained aesthetic of Higo sword fittings. The tsuba has a dark, deeply patinated iron surface with a substantial, organically shaped rim and pronounced three-dimensional construction. The central seppa-dai is integrated into the composition with broad structural supports, while the surrounding pine trees are rendered with open spaces and punched details that give the design considerable visual depth. The reverse follows the same composition, emphasizing the craftsmanship and consistency of the openwork. The piece is accompanied by a traditional wooden presentation box with a decorative textile cushion , making it particularly suitable for collection and display. Dimension: 88,8 mm x 89,3 mm x 6,2 mm (Seppa) - 5,7 mm (Mimi), 149,9 g
