Kari ni bundo (Goose and weight) motif A fine Kanayama Tsuba from the collection of Mr. Nick Nakamura. This tsuba was published in the 16th Kokusai Tosogu Kai catalogue in 2020. It is accompanied by custom fitted kiri bako and a cloth hand-made bag. There is a washi paper sleeve for the tsuba with Mr. Nakamura's calligraphy. This tsuba shows strong tekkotsu ("iron bones") and a concave profile typical of Kanayama works. The following is Mr. Nakamura's description from the KTK publication (book not included): The iron color is deep, strong and pure, which iron taste has the reminiscent of the Owari tsuba. However, from the feeling of its design and style of making, it is Kanayama. It is probably the work of late Muromachi Period.
