Description Keijo: shinogi-zukuri, iori-mune. Kitae: ko-itame-hada. Hamon: chōji-midare with ashi. Boshi: midare-komi. Horimono: bō-hi on both omote and ura in the monouchi. Nakago: ubu, kurijiri; yasurime katte-sagari; one mekugi-ana.
Artisan Toyonaga Tōni Minamoto Yukihide (豊永東尼源行秀)
Era Meiji 3 (1870), 2nd month (an auspicious day)
Explanation This is the NBTHK designation certificate for a katana bearing the signature “Toyonaga Tōni Minamoto Yukihide,” and dated “Meiji 3 (1870), second month, an auspicious day.” The blade is constructed in shinogi-zukuri with an iori-mune. The jihada is described as ko-itame, and the temper is a chōji-midare with ashi. The bōshi is midare-komi. In the monouchi area, both sides are carved with bō-hi. The tang is ubu with a kurijiri tip, file marks in katte-sagari, and a single mekugi-ana.
Following examination by the Association, the piece was designated Jūyō Tōken on July 10, 1982 (Shōwa 57). The certificate is issued under the name of the Association chairman, Honma Junji.
