This is a pair of fuchi-kashira, sword fittings for the handle of a Japanese sword. They are made of shakudo with nanako ground, chiselled in relief and inlaid with gold and other metals, depicting birds, a tree, and a river. The set is signed by Nara Shigemitsu with a kao and dates to the Edo Period.
