About the school
Chiyozuru School千代鶴派
This katana is attributed to Rai Kuniyasu, a smith from the Chiyozuru school in Echizen province, active during the mid-Nambokuchô period. It features a wide mihaba, substantial koshizori, and an impressive ô-kissaki, characteristic of its era. The blade exhibits a dark jigane with mixed itame and mokume, and a bright chû-suguha hamon with nie-laden nioiguchi, all contributing to its NBTHK Jûyô Tôken designation.
