This is a fine katana, unsigned and O-suriage, attributed to Fujiwara Takada of Bungo province, dating to the Kan'ei era (1624-1643). The blade exhibits a beautiful form with a moderate curvature and a robust body, reminiscent of Bitchu Aoe works. The jitetsu is tightly forged ko-itame with masame near the ha, bright ji-nie, and clear utsuri, while the hamon is suguha with dense nie, yubashiri, kinsuji, and nioiguchi, suggesting excellent cutting ability.
