This is a mamori-tantō by Gassan Sadakatsu, a master swordsmith of the Taisho and Showa periods. Though modest in size, it features an impressive Soshu-style tempering, which is rare for his tantō. The blade has been freshly polished and is in excellent condition, accompanied by its original koshirae, shirasaya, and a paulownia wood box with Sadakatsu's handwritten inscription on the lid.
