This is a fine katana attributed to Masanao of Kazusa Province, a student of Kiyomaro, from the late Edo period (around Kaei era). The blade is o-suriage mumei, with the nakago shaped to fit the koshirae. It is believed to be a masterfully forged work, reminiscent of Shizu Saburo Kaneuji's grand tachi, which Kiyomaro himself admired.
