Gifu Prefecture Important Intangible Cultural Property.Mukansa sword smith.Nosyu Hachiman ju Kanekuni kore tsukuru.無鑑査刀匠・初代尾川兼圀による作品です。身幅が広く、豪壮で堂々とした刀姿に、見事な互の目を焼き上げた優作です。もともとは美術刀剣として製作された一振りですが、その後、短期間ながら居合で使用されていたものと思われます。刀身・拵ともにコンディションは概ね良好で、居合での実用はもちろん、無鑑査刀匠による美術刀として鑑賞・コレクションにもおすすめできる一振りです。This is a work by the first-generation Ogawa Kanekuni, a Mukansa-ranked swordsmith.It is an outstanding piece, featuring a wide mihaba and a powerful, imposing sugata, with a beautifully executed gunome hamon.The sword was originally made as an art sword for appreciation rather than for Iaido, although it appears to have been used for Iaido for a short period afterward.Both the blade and the koshirae remain in generally very good condition.
