Morisuke (守助) was a -period swordsmith of Province whose lineage is believed to have drawn upon the group through Moriie. He is counted among the smiths of the - -- a collective designation for craftsmen of the late period who did not stand in a direct master-disciple relationship with Kanemitsu. Sword reference works record several generations from Ryakuo through Bun'an. Extant dated inscriptions from both the Northern Court (Teiji 2, Joji 2) and the Southern Court (Enbun 6, Bunna 3) demonstrate how smiths of this era were drawn between the two courts.
Morisuke's workmanship is characterized by compact running in close succession, frequently mixed with and pointed elements, with the tending toward a tight () appearance. His forging shows mixed with and , with standing grain and appearing prominently. In forms, the mixes many varied elements into what the describes as a small-patterned (ko-moyo) composition. The is well developed, the shows , and conspicuous and run through the tempered area. His production encompasses a range including , in the Yoshii manner, of archaic character, and .
The consistently notes that extant signed works are exceedingly rare and constitute precious reference material. A dated Joji 2 is singled out as "particularly rare" for its combination of , signature, and date inscription. An of 87.7 cm preserving high -zori and is praised as "an exemplary model" of its period. As works of the - group, Morisuke's blades display both individual character and the collective style of these craftsmen who worked alongside, yet independently of, the Kanemitsu lineage.
