Marquis Ikeda Nobumasa (born July 1, Meiji 37), a politician, businessman, and member of the kazoku (peerage) during the Showa period. He was a Marquis and a member of the House of Peers. Accompanied by a sword possession permit issued under the name of the 15th head of the Okayama Domain Ikeda family. It has arrived—a celebrated sword handed down through the Okayama Ikeda family has appeared. This sword is a masterpiece by Saio Suke-no-jo Hiroga, residing in Kurayoshi, Hoki Province, from around the Eiroku era of the Muromachi period (1560, 464 years ago)—exactly the time when Oda Nobunaga defeated Imagawa Yoshimoto at Okehazama and rose to national fame. Hiroga is the son of the famous Mitsuda Gozaemon Hiroga of Hoki, who is said to be a pupil of Soshu Tsunahiro. Later, Kurayoshi became the territory of Lord Ikeda Mitsumasa, who subsequently became the progenitor of the Okayama Ikeda clan. This sword by Hiroga is a precious blade that has been preserved in the Ikeda family since the Kurayoshi era. The sugata of this blade is healthy, showing a distinct difference between the wide moto-mihaba and the saki-mihaba with a pronounced saki-zori. The jigane is an itame-hada mixed with mokume-hada, becoming well-tightened (tsundu). The hamon is in nioi-deki with abundant ko-nie, featuring a gunome-midare pattern mixed with togari-ba. The kaeri is deeply tempered, and the presence of mune-yaki brilliantly expresses the ambitious Soshu-den style. The Ikeda family is famous for having possessed many magnificent swords, including the National Treasure Ko-Bizen Okanehira, considered the pinnacle of Japanese swords. On this occasion, an elderly connoisseur has entrusted us with this blade, stating, "I have grown old, so please pass this on to the next generation at a low price." Because there is some light rust from saya-atari (scabbard rubbing), we are offering it at a special bargain price. Please enjoy this opportunity.
