This is a wakizashi by the 1st generation Yasutsugu, who was an exclusive smith for Tokugawa Ieyasu. It features a hira-zukuri, mitsumune blade with a slightly long length relative to its width and a shallow sori. The jigane is itame-nagare-gokoro with abundant ji-nie, some hada-tachi-gokoro, frequent chikei, and a dark iron color. The hamon is nie-gachi with ko-nie, primarily sugu-cho with some notare, and abundant sunagashi, especially strong from the middle to the monouchi, with bright nie and a finely detailed edge. The boshi is yakikomi, straight with a slightly pointed tip, turning back deeply with kinsuji and hakikake, and has muneyaki. It comes with a sayagaki by Tanobe-sensei, suggesting it might be a copy of Sadamune.
