Description

This tanto is a mature work by Gassan Sadayoshi, a pivotal Shinshintô smith known for reviving the Gassan school's ayasugi-hada. Signed and dated Genji 1 (1864), it features a straight-grain nagare-hada and a bright gunome-chôji-midare hamon. The blade is housed in an exceptional aikuchi-koshirae with a snake-skin texture saya and gold family-crest menuki, and comes with NBTHK Tokubetsu Hozon papers.
