This is a tanto signed Bishu Osafune Harumitsu, dated Tenbun 18th year (1549). Harumitsu, also known as Jurozaemonjo Harumitsu, was the great-grandson of Ukkyo-no-suke Katsumitsu, who served Akamatsu Masanori, the daimyo of Bizen, Harima, and Mimasaka. The blade is noted as a 'Wazamono' (sharp sword) and was highly regarded by powerful figures of the Sengoku period.
