Bizen Katana for Sale
Bizen province (modern Okayama) was Japan's most prolific and celebrated swordmaking center, producing more blades than all other provinces combined. The Bizen tradition is known for its characteristic choji midare hamon, warm and active jigane, and excellent balance between beauty and cutting performance. Legendary Bizen schools include Ichimonji, Osafune (Nagamitsu, Kagemitsu, Mitsutada), and Ko-Bizen. From the Heian period through the late Muromachi, Bizen smiths set the standard for Japanese swordmaking that endures to this day.
