This is an iron tsuba by Akita Shoami, a branch of the Shoami school that flourished in Akita during the Edo period. Dated to the mid-Edo period, it features an irregular curvilinear pattern resembling insect trails, with remnants of colored inlay. The heavy dote-mimi (raised rim) adds a rustic yet distinctive charm. It is accompanied by an NBTHK Hozon Tosogu certificate.
