Description

This is an excellent mumei tsuba from the Kyokenjo school, featuring a yatsuhashi (eight bridges) openwork design on an iron ground, with iris flowers inlaid in gold. Kyokenjo tsuba, often unsigned, are known for their ornate gold nunome-zogan (inlay) of plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, pines, and castles, reflecting the elegant culture of the Edo period. This piece is accompanied by a Tokubetsu Hozon Tosogu certificate.
