The mihaba is wide, the kasane is thick, and the sori is deep. The chu-kissaki is well-proportioned, resulting in a dignified and powerful sugata. 【Jitetsu】 Itame-hada mixed with mokume-hada. The hada is well-refined, showing jinie and chikei. 【Hamon】 Chu-suguha based, mixed with hotsure and uchi-no-ke. The nioiguchi is bright and clear with abundant nie. 【Boshi】 Sugu with a slight yakitsume style, returning in a shallow komaru. 【Koshirae】 Black roiro-nuri saya uchigatana koshirae. Tsuba: Round shape, iron ground with sukashi carving. Fuchi-Kashira: Shakudo-nanako ground, autumn insects motif, takabori with iro-e. Menuki: Shakudo ground, floral motif, yose-彫 (yose-bori). 【Explanation】 The Shikkake school is one of the five schools of Yamato (Yamato Go-pa), founded by Norinaga. This blade is a mumei work attributed to the Shikkake school. It exhibits the characteristic Yamato style with a refined jitetsu and a suguha-based hamon containing hotsure.
