This is an iron 64-plate suji kabuto (ridged helmet bowl) signed by Saotome Iemitsu, an armorer active during the mid-Edo period. The Saotome school was based in Hitachi Province (Joshu), where Iemitsu resided. The fukikaeshi (neck guard) is made of iron with a black lacquer finish.
