A russet iron samurai helmet (kabuto) from the Edo period, signed by Saotome Ietada. It features a sixty-two plate construction with 1,550 small standing rivets (koboshi) and a rare lobed three-plate shikoro. Ietada is considered the founder of the Saotome school, originating in Hitachi province.
