This is a kabuto hachi (helmet bowl) signed by Nagamichi, an excellent and recognizable maker from the mid-Edo period, circa 1750. It features three rows of thirty-one rivets on the front plate, arranged with a precision comparable to Saotome Ietada's work. The hachi retains a fine, dark patina and has an inome (boar's-eye) aperture on the maedate-dai, a characteristic of this maker.
