Description

This is a daisho (matching pair) of tsuba featuring a peony and lion design, signed by Hirotoshi with his kao. Made in Hitachi Province during the Edo period, these tsuba are crafted from shibuichi migaki-ji with katakiri-kebori carving and kaku-mimi koniku. Hirotoshi was a student of Tamagawa Kira and is known for his high-relief carvings of figures and landscapes on shibuichi tsuba and fuchi-kashira.
