This tsuba, made by Goto Mitsuhisa, the 6th generation of the Goto Jizaemon family, features a design of raptors and the 'Two Friends of Winter' (pine and plum) on an oborogin ishime ground. Mitsuhisa was influenced by Goto Ichijo and excelled at intricately carving delicate movements of nature. The front depicts a plum tree with a raptor, while the reverse shows a clear white chrysanthemum, all rendered with high relief carving and iroe nashiji inlay. It comes with a special made kiri box.
