This is a wakizashi by Hoki no Kami Fujiwara Hirotaka, a representative smith of the Echizen Shimosaka school. Though dimensionally a wakizashi, it was forged as a short katana, exhibiting a powerful Kanbun Shinto-style with a shallow sori. The blade features a tightly forged ko-itame hada, bright gunome midare hamon with active ara-nie, and comes with a luxurious koshirae including a black lacquered thousand-groove saya and a rare tsunagi-nakago.
