Description

This is an unsigned tsuba by Shimizu Moshige, the fifth generation of the Shimizu school, from the late Edo period. It features a mokko-gata iron plate depicting a figure with a large umbrella in a thunderstorm, utilizing gold nunome-zogan for lightning and shibuichi/suaka for the figure and umbrella. The tsuba is certified Hozon Tosogu by the NBTHK and is noted for its unique composition and iron quality.
