Description

This is a tsuba featuring a wind sail design, attributed to the Yagyu school. It is made of iron with openwork carving and a copper-filled kozuka hole. The design of a large sail catching the wind in rough seas is said to represent the essence of strategy, a hallmark of the Yagyu school.
