Description

This is a mumei Yagyu tsuba featuring a lotus leaf openwork design. It is characterized by its simple yet powerful style, emphasizing the iron quality and avoiding elaborate decoration, typical of the Yagyu school which served as martial arts instructors to the Tokugawa shogunate. The tsuba is of sumiiri-kakugata shape with good iron quality and visible iron bones on the rim, embodying the classic aesthetic of Yagyu tsuba.
