This is an iron sukashi tsuba signed by Choshu no Ju Tomosada. Measuring 7 x 7 x 0.4 cm, it features a heavy, dense plate in perfect condition with crisp and well-executed carving. Robert Haynes' index lists Tomosada's death date as 1800, placing this first-class Choshu tsuba in the late Edo period.
