NihontoWatchNihontoWatch波頭を立てて逆巻く流れを遡上する鯉。激しい流れの龍門を昇りきった鯉は天に至り龍となる。「登龍門」の伝説である。無心に泳ぐ鯉の顔は微細な石目地が施され、鱗は小刻みに円弧を描く片切彫の連続。背鰭と尾鰭は、鋤き出された細い高肉彫りの間を更に細い毛彫で埋めている。鉄色と鉄味の良さに定評のある長州鐔。本作も鍛え良く引き締まった地鉄が画題の魅力を増している。安親の同図に迫る出来栄えである。

The NBTHK (Nihon Bijutsu Tōken Hozon Kyōkai, the Society for the Preservation of Japanese Art Swords) is a public-interest incorporated foundation founded in 1948 and supervised by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs (Bunkachō); it is based at the Japanese Sword Museum in Tokyo. Its expert panels physically examine each submitted work (shinsa) and issue a certificate (kanteishō) ranking it by artistic and historical merit. NBTHK papers are the most widely recognized standard of authentication for Japanese swords and fittings.
