This is a katana forged by Naminohira Yasuhiro, grandson of Yamato no Kami Yukihira, who mastered Soshu-den at the command of the second feudal lord Shimazu Mitsuhisa. It is a long blade exceeding 2 shaku 4 sun, with a modest curvature and a small kissaki, giving it a slender appearance. The strong shinogi-suji indicates its robustness, and the powerful flowing nie-suji (boiling lines) are a prominent characteristic of Satsuma swords.
