Description

This is a tsuba made by Aizu Shoami in the early Edo period. The tsuba depicts a monkey reaching for the moon, with seasonal flowers in the background. It features a shakudo nanako ground with high-relief carving and colored inlays of yamagane for the monkey and gold, silver, and copper for the flowers.
