This is a katana attributed to the Dodanuki school from the Momoyama period (around Bunroku era). The Dodanuki smiths, led by Masakuni and Kiyokuni, served Kato Kiyomasa and were known for robust, powerful blades for the battlefield. This sword, originally around 78.8 cm, has been greatly shortened (o-suriage) but still retains a wide body, extended kissaki, and a slightly high sori, presenting a magnificent appearance.
